Professor Tracy Borman - The Stolen Crown: Treachery, Deceit and the Death of the Tudor Dynasty Sat 25th July 11.00am

In March 1603, Queen Elizabeth I, the last Tudor monarch, lay dying at Richmond Palace. The queen's ministers clustered round her bedside, urging her to name her successor - something she had stubbornly resisted throughout her reign. Almost with her last breath, she whispered that James VI of Scotland should succeed her. She died shortly afterwards and the throne of England passed peacefully from Tudor to Stuart. Or so we've been led to believe. In this illustrated talk based on Tracy's Sunday Times Bestseller, The Stolen Crown the shocking truth behind one of history’s best-kept secrets will be uncovered.

Prof Tracy Borman OBE is a very well known historian, broadcaster and author of numerous best selling books. Amongst her many responsibilities she is Chief Historian for Historic Royal Palaces (the charity that manages amongst others, Hampton Court Palace, the Tower of London and Kensington Palace), Chief Executive of the Heritage Education Trust (a charity that encourages children to visit and learn from historic properties),  and Chancellor of Lincoln Bishop University. Her latest books are a novel, The House of Boleyn  and in non-fiction The Stolen Crown: Treachery, Deceit and the Death of the Tudor Dynasty
